Sustainable Comfort, Inc., a green building and energy efficiency consulting firm with expertise in multifamily housing, is seeking an Energy Rater to join our growing team. Our focus is Sustainability & Green Buildings. SCI works with development and construction teams throughout the greater Northeast Region to make better multifamily buildings, with a specific focus in ENERGY Star Homes, LEED for Homes, Enterprise Green Communities, Passive House, HERS Rating, State Incentive Programs, and Code Compliance.

Job requirements

Essential Duties

  • Conduct inspections of job sites to evaluate buildings for energy efficiency, and for compliance with HERS and other rating systems.
  • Perform field tests, such as blower door and duct blaster testing, at rough and final construction for program compliance.
  • Prepare HERS energy models for multifamily buildings.
  • Draft reports that accurately communicate the results of field testing and clearly outline any deficiencies or non-compliance on site.
  • Create, organize, and maintain all construction documentation needed for program certification or review by a third party.
  • Regular travel to job sites and meetings within a 60–90-mile radius is expected.
  • Providing formal and informal trainings of sub/contractors to help them achieve certifications and construct better buildings.
  • Interact with contractors and other team members to communicate program requirements and inspection schedules. May include individual travel to various multifamily housing construction sites to conduct progress inspections and performance testing to verify energy efficiency.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree, Associates degree in construction management or related discipline, or five (5) years of experience in the building trades.
  • Prior experience in building construction.
  • Prior experience with HERS Rating or similar green building rating system
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
